The easiest tip we at Waldemar Jewellers can give is to make sure that your jewellery should all match in some way. Say, you chose to incorporate your "something blue" and decided to go with sapphire earrings, then incorporate shades of blue somewhere in your necklace, too. In order to look stylish and sophisticated, choose gemstones that match in either color or shape for whatever pieces you choose to wear. To further perfect the look, your choice of metals should all harmonize too. Choose one metal color, whether it be yellow gold, rose gold, white gold or platinum and choose all your accessory pieces that would be finished in the same metal.
To be honest, it can be easy to go a little overboard with jewellery and accessories because here are so many gorgeous pieces to wear! However, sometimes the "less is more" motto is very true when it comes to jewellery. Try picking one or two essential pieces so you don’t end up looking like you overdid it. Remember, this is about you and you want everyone getting distracted by your accessories.
Lastly, you want to remain true to your own personality, especially on your big day. Your whole ensemble - your dress, hairstyle, shoes and jewellery should complement your own unique personality so you still feel like yourself, only better!

Yes, they definitely can be. I'd say that 95% of the time, the clients that we work with have different wedding rings where the gents wedding ring does not match the bride's. Go ahead and get the ring that you like rather than trying to match up with your partner. Another idea is to have complementary rings where the style can be different but made out of the same type of metal. The key here, I believe, is to know what you really want (as you will have this ring for the rest of your life) and get a jewellery designer who can accommodate these in their designs while at the same time guiding you through the wedding ring purchase.
