Perfection down to the detail. Hunter Events offers end to end service for your wedding, as planners and stylists. Louise called me within 2 minutes of submitting my query, and she welcomed us into her office to discuss our wedding planning needs. Every single detail was considered and she has a wide network of contacts within the Hunter Region and NSW to bring your vision to life. Her team always followed up and kept track of costs, suppliers and communications. Louise and team are like family and we had such a positive experience with Hunter Events. We are terribly sad that our wedding is over and we will miss them dearly!. Louise always has a solution and contingencies for her couples and is a problem solver. Even on the day support, she went above and beyond with her ready to go emergency kit (sewing kit, bobby pins). Highly recommend!

Do wedding planners do styling as well or is that separate?

Does a wedding planner do styling (like create my ceremony arch) or do I need a separate wedding stylist for that? Thanks.

In short, a Wedding Planners job is to focus on the details, logistics and planning of your wedding so your day runs seamlessly from start to finish. A Wedding Stylist however, focuses on the overall style, feel and visual design of the day.

While these two roles may sound vastly different, there is considerable crossover in their responsibilities and many benefits to having them executed by the same person. 

One of the most important aspects in organising a wedding is establishing your budget and putting a plan in place to achieve the day of your dreams while being realistic about what you can and can’t afford. This includes styling.

To effectively plan for where money will be best spent, your planner must first understand your vision and what will be required to achieve this. The earlier your styling is factored into the budget, the better. There is nothing worse than booking in all your vendors and then realising you don’t have anything left to make it look and feel how you want.

As an example, they can help you source a venue that provides furniture and decor that already suits your vision, cutting back on styling costs down the track. Knowing your venue booking contract and inclusions inside out means they can easily devise appropriate layouts and identify potential problems that may arise.

Your planner will help you source, book and manage all of your suppliers. They will also create a timeline of the day for each of your suppliers to follow. If these are all booked by the same person you can be sure nothing will be missed and your day will run seamlessly. 

On the day of your wedding, not only will your planner be able to manage vendors, keep everyone on schedule and problem-solve, they will also be able to make sure all design elements are arranged in their correct places, layout and site plan are correctly executed and assist with set up so you or your guests don’t have to lift a finger.

Having your styling and planning organised simultaneously ensures the planning process for your special day is smooth, structured, and seamless.

How do I create a timeline for the wedding day?

I don't know how long everything is going to take so how do I know how to plan out my day? I'm having a winter wedding so I want to do most of the photos before the ceremony. I want to get married during the "golden light" hours so at about 5PM so the reception can follow immediately after.

Hi India,

The easiest place to start with creating your wedding timeline is with the ceremony and considering daylight hours - so you're off to a good start! Make sure to think about the duration of your ceremony and how much light you'll have at the end so the photos of your first kiss and bridal party exit aren't too dark.

The best advice we can give is to chat with each of your key vendors as to how long they usually take to provide each service. Your photographer should be able to guide you on how long they'd like for the photos before the ceremony, as well as how long they want for getting ready photographs. Then work backwards from there and use advice from your hair and makeup artists on how long they'll take with the number of ladies getting done. Your venue/caterers can advise on how long to allocate to each course depending on your guest numbers and service style so you can build your formalities around these timings. Make sure to allow enough time for the things that are important to you - if you really value dancing and want to have 3+ hours for this at the end of the night, make this a priority when creating your timeline. 

If you are still feeling stuck, consider reaching out to a wedding planner in your local area as they can often help create your perfect timeline, as well as be there on the day to make sure everything runs smoothly.

What to do with our seating chart if some guests have cancelled?

Hi, I’ve had a beautiful seating chart made and now, some of the guests have let us know they can’t come. What do people normally do in this situation? Leave the sign as it is even though it’s wrong, or somehow cross guests off? Or do people pay for a new sign!?

Hello! If you don't have the desire, money or the time to get another chart printed, you could get creative with your existing chart and try to 'erase' the names. It will depend on what your sign is made from and how the names have been written on (eg. painted, engraved, decal) as to if you try to peel off a decal, wipe off paint or pen, or cover up the name with a sticker etc. However, this may draw more attention to the changes than if you were to just leave it and it may compromise the look and aesthetics of the sign. I promise that guests really only look for their name and table, and probably won't notice or care if someone who is now unable to attend still has their name on the chart. You definitely need to update the seating plan for your wedding planner or venue coordinator so they know the (new) correct number of places to set at each table and how to most effectively serve food. There's nothing more hectic for venue staff or your wedding coordinator than trying to get all your guests inside and seated, while having to move guests from their seats and remove/add a place setting to the table to get the numbers right.
