At Formal Red we sell, hire and tailor make men's suiting and accessories. We are event-wear specialists and cater for over 750 weddings every year. We design and manufacture our own products, ensuring you a quality garment that is exclusive to our store.

Our Custom Made Garments require a minumum 3-4 months from time of Order.
Your cloth choice and International Holidays will influence whether you require up to 4 months.
We suggest coming in 5-6 months prior to your wedding to view your complete options.
If you choose to buy one of our Ready to wear Suits many alterations can be performed to professinally fit your garment. These more complex alterations will require 1-2 weeks.
We recommend you come in at least 6 months prior to your wedding to organise your outfit for you and your groomsman.
No, but once we know what you require we would be happy to suggest a few places.
A suit hire ( Jacket and trouser) is $200. Price includes fittings, alterations and dry cleaning on return.
Hire suits are picked up on Thursday or Friday and are due back on Monday unless its a public holiday.
Shirts are $30 and are all French Cuff. (Cufflinks are not provided.)
Vest/Waistcoats are $40
Black Bow Tie Hire is $10
We stock an extensive selection of Ready to Wear suits, shirts and accessories. Suits can be as little as $379, and for those who demand high quality Superfine Pure Wools Suits range Between $599 to $999.
We have dedicated men's clothiers and outfitters at your disposal and an in-house tailoring service to ensure a perfect solution for all your needs. For wedding consultations we ask that you arrange an appointment as we are in high demand for this service and the process requres a longer duration, and for bridal parties mulitple fitting rooms.

We suggest starting the process around12-14 weeks prior as this will give you more options. It will also give use plenty of time to bring in any stock that may have sold through.
The fitting for adjustments we can arrange closer to the wedding, that way we can factor in any changes in weight. Any additional tailoring usually takes around a week and idealy its best to bring your shoes in for this fitting.
I've gained weight since my formal wear was fitted. What are my options?
At what point in the custom made suit process can the measurements be re-taken? What other options would I have?
Formal Red
A custom made garment is a process that requires precise measurements and an experienced tailor. If we have taken your measurements then the next process is to draw up the pattern for your bespoke garments, begin the cutting process and book in the tailoring. At this stage it is to late for a re-measure, so the best approach in the instance of weight change is to make adjustments to your garments on your next fitting.
As we can not predict how much person will change in weight and how that will effect their measurements, we suggest that a weight change of no more than 4-5 kilograms. If you are planning on changing your size then best approach is to get measured as close to the cut off time as possible. Always check our website for lead times so you have maximum options available to you.
What can the Groom wear for a summer wedding?
We're getting married in February in Brisbane and it's very likely to be hot and sticky. Now, I want my fiance to look sharp, but I don't want him to suffer either. What do you suggest he wear? (Don't worry about best man or groomsmen, we're not having any.) It's a garden ceremony in the shade, and the bride is wearing a simple tea-length dress, if that makes a difference.

Most of our couples we cater for are getting married in spring or summer and the advise we give them is to simply avoid wearing synthetic or blended fabrics.
For warmer months natural fibres work best. Light wools for most suits or alternatively for a more relaxed look cotton or linen will provide the best comfort.
If your opting for a suit jacket always ask for Half canvas or full canvas construction. This traditional tailoring craft will ensure you are at your most comfortable.
